halayang ube
 halayang ube is the some of the kakanin or puto in the philipines,It is a popular dessert for every occassions.This halayang ube is made up of  purple yam root, grated and mixed with condensed milk and margarine or butter.It is not easy to prepared you need a lot of time to cook this because you need to stir this during you are cooking.This is the delicious dessert.It is called a purple jum because in their color of violet.Halaya ube is have a smooth,sticky and soft texture like kutsinta.It have a toppings such as a latik.

 Ingredients:
1 kilo ube yam root
1 can (14 ounces) evaporated milk
2 cans (12 ounces) condensed milk
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla (optional)

Procedure;
 1.Boil the unpeeled ube yam in water and simmer for 30 minutes. Drain and let cool.
 2.Melt butter or margarine, add the condensed milk and vanilla flavoring. Mix well.
 3.Add the 1 kilo grated ube yam,Adjust the heat to low
 4.Keep on mixing the ingredients for about 30 minutes or until sticky and a bit dry (but still moist).
 5.Let cool and place on a large platter.
